October 29, 2004
Kirtas Technologies today announced that Northwestern University Library has purchased an APT BookScan 1200TM system, making it the first major research library to purchase this revolutionary book digitizing technology. The system, which sells for $120,000, will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2004.

Kirtas Technologies and Ohio-based ICIBinding Corporation – the largest library binding and preservation service provider to libraries in the United States – jointly announced today that ICIBinding is making an initial purchase of two APT BookScan 1200TM systems.  Two ICIBinding sites – one near Cleveland, Ohio and one in Hayward, California – will be set up as live, demonstration and production facilities for the Kirtas book scanner.

Kirtas Technologies announced today that Innovative Document Imaging, LLC (IDI), one of the largest U.S. providers of bound document scanning, has purchased an APT BookScan 1200TM system to bolster their in-house book digitizing services.

Kirtas Technologies announced today that it has signed a new distribution agreement for its APT BookScan 1200TM system that will increase its market penetration in the Pacific Basin region.  Product Technology, Inc., based in Nagoya, Japan, has agreed to purchase its first demonstration unit slated for shipment in October 2004.

Kirtas CEO Lotfi Belkhir, PhD, announced today that Logos Bible Software of Bellingham, WA, has purchased an APT BookScan 1200™  system to further its mission of providing Christian scholars and students worldwide with high speed, searchable access to Bibles and religious reference materials in electronic form.

Brewster Kahle, Founder and President of the Internet Archive, joins Mario Rosati, corporate lawyer specializing in technology companies at Palo Alto, California-based Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati, and Jim Noack, widely recognized technology innovator to the loan industry, as a member of Kirtas Technologies Board of Directors.  Kahle is also a substantial investor in Kirtas Technologies.
